Want to help?

We aim to protect our area for the benefit of all who live there and visit. However we can’t do this entirely on our own. We have had support from various organisations in the past, notably Elloughton-cum-Brough Town Council, but this funding is getting harder to find. 

Our members do a lot of work to keep the area tidy, provide clear paths, grow wildflower seedlings and plant them and bulbs. We provide a great space for people to take a short stroll and get away from the immediate demands of life and to take time out for themselves. 

Without funding our work would have to stop and the woods would be closed as we cannot manage all the work ourselves. For example we have to be able to bring in qualified contractors from time to time to manage trees which have become too old or have been damaged in some way.

    • Membership is payable for the year commencing 1 June and is payable in May.
    • A membership card will be issued on payment.

        • £10 per year (individual membership)
        • £20 per year (family membership)
        • £75 for life membership

Members are entitled to vote at our AGM which is usually held in May, appointing Trustees and taking other key decisions. Each member has one vote with up to three nominated voters in the case of a family membership.

Volunteer

You can help maintain the Reserve by joining our working parties. Details of our working parties are shown on our Meeting Schedules and usually involve about 4 Sunday mornings each year, two in the Spring including a litter picking in the wider area and two in the Autumn. Using the Reserve regularly to look out for any problems is also a useful activity.  You can also take on another role that supports our work such as maintaining our website, managing social media etc.  You can help with any of these and also become a Trustee being part of the team that manages what we do. This is an important but not usually onerous role – Trustees meet for less than 2 hours a month.
