In 2002 the Society bought 3 acres of woodland on Brantingham Road, Elloughton, between Spindlewood and the Hull Ionians rugby club. It was very overgrown but with hard work from members it has been transformed into a nature reserve that supports hundreds of different species.
In 2012 the Society bought half an acre of land adjacent to the woodland reserve, giving access to a newly created wildflower meadow benefitting bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.
The reserve is maintained by members. Each Spring and Autumn we have an organised working event (see programme) and in between volunteers carry out whatever additional work needs to be done.
